Just to let you guys know we try to stay on top of such things.

These posts are not tolerated by us and harsh actions will be taken.

Report the post to a moderator if you can.. if not as you know i'm on here alot so I delete them and BAN the user.

One idea I had was to hack it so that your first 3 posts had to be replies to other peoples posts before you are allowed to make your own post. Bart might be able to do that, he is good in PHP

That would stop the automated spammers and maybe all spammers.

Thoughts?

well it has a captcha for new members, but i think i will upgrade it soon, now that finals are over.

The 3 posts thing might be good because a spammer who gets past the captcha might just be disheartened and quit trying.

k well i have deleted/banned 3 people today.. but they all had different IPs and even ranges so i dunno wtf to do otherwise i'd start banning IP ranges

what about email address's? you need a valid one to sign up right? so start a list of everyone who signs up to do that sh*t and list their email address so everyone on here can help contribute it to a random website that accepts email address's for whatever purppose....? I'm up for it. Even if we each only do it once for 5 minutes every week we could devistate their email accounts with endless spam and junk mail.

Well I am not sure as things have gotten pretty bad in the last 2-3 weeks, but I just hate when forums are hard to sign-up too as it discourages people from joining.

The email address revenge thing is likely not going to inconvenience someone. If they are serious spammer they will operate their own mail server. Even if not, they will simply move on to another account.
