Last time I checked this wasn't Sesame Street - if we're getting trolled or people are blatantly calling people fcukers etc, then alright. But this is getting worse than Vortex.

If people would behave themselves, threads wouldn't get locked. Everyone should ask themselves this question before they post: would I say this to someone's face, or am I hiding behind the computer? If the answer is #1, post away, if not, maybe you shouldn't.
Actually we don't like to lock threads but if there are complaints to mods via PMs etc we usually just do it to head off any problems. Otherwise there is retalliation and it just escalates. So if you felt uncomfortable posting on a certain thread or felt like someone else's post is causing problems you could report the thread and we would moderate or lock it depending on the situation.
That being said, I have not locked many/any threads myself lately. Sometimes a certain person *cough* Ryan *cough* has a heavy modfinger.
Yah but if some idiot goes off the deep end and starts calling people h*********! then edit their post, don't screw everyone else by locking it. It just creates more drama than it's worth.
The best mods are the ones who mention and use their functions the least, not the most.
And as for real life analogies, if someone tried to censor me, they'd get a serious boot to the head. I'm annoyed already and it's not even my posts/threads getting modzied. Nothing pisses me off more on boards than having a mod who's too eager to moderate say "Now now now, this thread is getting much too heated" and locks it. Threads like that die on their own. Or is it better to just end up with mindless "what wheels should I buy".
Edit: Typed before Kors reply. Obviously not against having mods in general, just ease up a bit!

Well with respect to Swoosh's clutch threads we have had three that just go the same route so they are closed as we are tired of the same crap.
I have always tried to leave threads open but that is up to you all to make sure they stay that way. Really we have only closed a few threads and they all seem to be related.
I appreciate the comments though.

I asked to have one of the clutch threads closed. If you have someone who's posted literally 6 times to the board and they are being completely destructive and attacking other members, it doesn't help anyone to keep those comments on the board. Then the comments just esclate into a name calling match. I don't think anyone wants to read that on this forum. It's about loving Dubs, or VAGs or Euros or whatever, not for attacking people.
Yes, I think there are 2 or 3 new members who really fly off the handle fast, if I may name them....GTX, 100%VAGetarian, and I can't remember who else....
hi guys.. yes i HATE to have to lock a thread but last night poor swoosh's clutch thread got dumb.. when 2 guys delibertaly spam the thread swearing back and forth so i edit thier posts then they start posting hate on me.. sorry lock down..
I will put some input into this...
An online community such as this has many different people, with many different standards of what is acceptable and what is not...
When I moderate for one of my Toronto based groups we are told to yank anything that is either offensive or could be deemed offensive or has the potential to have a snowballing effect. Some people don't agree with what is being locked or yanked and other people applaud it... There is no way to make everyone happy. If an issue arises such as one about someones clutch that has already caused an issue and snowballed into something that it shouldnt have in the first post the subsequent posts are locked... Its like sticking a screwdriver in the breakerbox the day after you got electrocuted the first time...
I am quite sure that most people don't sign on to this site to fight and bicker... Sure the occasional drama is fun and entertaining but when it crosses a line I think the mods do a pretty good job of stepping in and locking/editing. Afterall, they aren't editing posts about someones puppy or locking/deleting threads because they don't like someones rims or hairstyle...
