NEWSFLASH! Mac's have security flaws too!

Getting spyware on a mac is less common, but it happens.
You have an attitude problem. Cool it. This isn't vwvortex and I don't appreciate your ****. There are no viruses for OSX and there is no spyware for OSX. That's not elitist. It's a fact. If you can't deal with it, that's your problem. Forget I said anything about popups, Jesus. Sometimes I wonder why I bother.

OSX is not some sort of magical entity - it is mostly Unix with a very fancy window manager. There are thousands of security exploits for unix, just like everything else. Sure there's no wild viruses for OSX but it's naive to assume there never will be...

      Here's a few lists:

      Old stuff: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300667
      New stuff: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61798

It reminds me of people who install Mozilla or Firefox - "Oh I can't get spyware or viruses with this" - and since they think they're invulnerable they end up being careless and run DIALIER.EXE and click Yes when it asks if they're sure they want to run it. At some point you can always defeat the system security by just having a brain fart.

Seems to me uv23 got tricked into running an applet or script that he shouldn't have, or it was bundled within some other app (which makes it spyware/malware - installed without his permission). Or does your wife use your mac and maybe signed up for it thinking it was something else? (Ha, if that's what happened then technically she would be a virus for your Mac!)

We do not want any popups with this site so I appreciate you bringing it up Yuval. I am sorry this has turned slightly nasty but if there is ever a problem with the site I want to now about it!
