Just a thought, our website has no flair....sure it entertaining to read, but only for us! Has there ever been any thought given to creating a start page for www.newveedub.com rather than opening up to the boards right away?? The front page can be used for news announcements, or ride of the month, intro to the club, or whatever, in a "blog like" format. That way you can create a "front page posts" thread section, so its actually connected to the boards....I think this would really increase the website appeal.....For an example, click here, this is the old club I was part of....

Back in the early days we had other pages besides the forum, but these days it seems hard to get people to donate their time to develop and shape things up. I would also love to have a page for the show that I still want to try make happen this year. I am not at all a computer person so this stuff really is beyond my limits so I need help in order to make this happen and I really dont think it is worth clubs funds to pay for web development.

I would love to help, my web development is very rusty (its been at least 6 years since I made web pages for money), but I would chance that MS frontpage or something would do it....nothing too fancy, just something to give the club some face rather than just boards.....

it just requires somebody dedicated to keep it up.

http://www.ottawa-vdubbing.com has a main page, but it really doesn't get updated a whole lot anymore because our 'admin' gets a bit busy with the new family and everything. I like having a main page, but it's tough to say how often it actually gets looked at (I know I just link right to the forums!)

With a little PHP, you can have 3 or 4 guys with the ability to login and update news... I run a server (with great up time) that I would be more then happy to host the main page on, giving us PHP and MySQL (currently have the NVD movie hosted on it).

I will cook something up tonight!

Yeah, updating is no problem, just link one section of the forums, label it "front page posts", and screen worthy posts (say, send a message to Blair with the info and request permission for it to be a front page post), make it newsworthy stuff, events, gatherings, kudos, club news, etc....and then the front page posts just cycle through on the main page, oldest dropping off the bottom (but still available in the forums part of the page), newest on top.....

How about this, we offer a competition each month. People submit their photo of their car and it gets voted on (one per registered user) and the winner automatically gets their photo on the front page.

well we have the members rides area but its kinda messed up.. we should almost make it like beyond where you can only reply to your thread so it keeps them cleaner i guess.. not to mention people should title their shite right.. ie 200x vw jetta 1.8t instead of .. new shite

Russ does good work, It's too bad he couldn't get it going before I had to shut it down because some clowns tried to ruin my life. Anyways that's past me now. I still want the page but it will need some changing.
