So I have some damage to my OEM RS6 wheels, thanks to the movers for putting one of them face down on my dirty garage floor. They also shipped them stacked with no packing material in between them, which was a problem because the wheel faces are flush with the tires and they touch when you stack them.
I have light to heavy scratches in the paint, mostly on the wheel edges from being stacked. There was a little bit of (light) curbage on two of the wheels when I bought the car last year, and I was planning on having them fixed anyhow at some point, but I guess the time has come.
I am weighing the pros and cons of getting them stripped and polished, for a different look. Usually, I am not that much into blingy wheels, but my car is a silver '04 S4 , and I like the look of polished / chrome wheels with silver.
I am aware of the following shops that do wheel repair:
- Wheel Works in Edmonton
- Image Auto Appearance (Kwicksilver) in Edmonton
- Alberta Wheel Repair in Calgary
- AWRS (Alberta Wheel Repair Service) in Calgary
I have used Wheel Works in the past for some curb rash / straightening. They are OK I guess, but I have no experience with the other shops and want to shop around a bit this time.
Anyone have any suggestions on which shop to use and why? If I am upgrading beyond just having them repainted and go the polished route, cost will be important as I have just moved to a new house and have a lot of landscaping expenses, etc. to deal with this year. Car upgrades are pretty much on the back burner for now, but I realize you usually get what you pay for and most of these shops are probably similar pricing?
