Any idea when a chip might be available & what kind of gains we may see?

I have not heard anything but I would say from experience it would be at least a few months after they are available. Gains would be a guess.. yours is probably as good as mine!

They are very small turbos and very low boost to minimize lag and increase reliability.

BMW is probably gonna be pretty anal about chipping. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do, just don't tell the dealership.

A chip being developed by Vishnu is already yeilding 70whp increase at peak, with more on the way. However, according to "shiv" (developer) their main goal isn't max hp, but faster throttle response & power but with the same linear type acceleration feel. So, it looks like the car is producing 400bhp without break a sweat. Check e90post.com for details. Is your e92 on order yet?

Any dealership doesn't like "chips". Buy a spare ECU, chip it, and keep the original for dealer visits.

no - i haven't ordered yet because I want to see where things come together with the new M3, and at what price point. Then I'm going to "attempt" to decide between 335i, M3 or maybe even an RS4. I drove a Z4 M roadster on the weekend thinking that was going to be *the* purchase, but it just didn't do it for me. A friend just took delivery of his 335i on the weekend and I took it for a quick tear as well; wonderfully set up car, comparable easily to the current e46 M3, so now I'm stuck wondering what to do, plus I'll be damned if I'll let him have the quicker car...

If you can afford, get the M3. Resale will no doubt be much better than the 335i

yea i'd still get an M or S series anyday of the week than the standard flavours if you can afford it.. the new m3 is going to be V8 420ish HP so RS4 specish

after reading about the 335i's on audiworld as alot of people in the S4 forum really like them.. they say they are garbage for tuning.. BMW seemed to make them so they can't be tuned to outdo the new M3.. people have been tracking them around and the stupid cars overheat and safe shutdown on them.. so anytime you drive it hard it dies hahaha
