  • Low Boost

Just got Upsoluted on the weekend... love it. However, on the way home from work today I would peak at 5psi instead of the lovely 15-18psi I was doing before. Any ideas what it might be? I don't have any CEL and the car runs fine otherwise.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Your ecu got angry due to (probably) too high of boost. If you have any kind of MBC in there, a non-stock "N75 valve" or messed with your wastegate in any way, then that is probably why it happened. If you're just chipped, thats kinda weird, shouldn't be happening. You can scan for codes if you have a VAG-COM to check if there is one stored (no CEL will appear) for boost pressure exceeded.

Give me some more details and I can probably offer a suggestion.

      Could be a boost leak.

Just chipped and I haven't done anything else to the engine except for a K&N filter. I will check the boost gauge connection... but I am sure that is ok. Maybe I will go for a spin now and see if it might have reset something. What would typically happen if your N75 or diverter valve was fried?

I dunno, should throw a code in either case though. If there is one thing the mototronic ecu is good at it is knowing when something changes.

You might want to spin by Simon's if it happens again and make him do a little scan

[K&N FILTER if it's the one you oil, you might have killed your maf sensor..
and it won't show as a fault.. you have to use vag com and get a grams per second reading.

              Re: Low Boost

It looks like the hose to the pressure regulator blew where the boost gauge was installed. Any idea where I can get some new hose... its a rubber hose with some sort of braided fabric cover.

              Thanks,

You can use almost any hose for that, I think Bart used windshield washer line hose or something for his gauge.

Ya... just found some rubber hose and some hose clamps and all is good now. I am back up to 15+ psi boost

                  Thanks everyone for your help,
