  • Electrical jetta problem

    Hey guys,

Came across a 03 Jetta TDI for sale that has an electrical problem of some sort. The owner tells me that it runs fine, but once the car sits for a day or so the battery is dead and the computer program is dumped and nothing works. He seems to think there is a short somewhere that is draining the battery. I'm thinking the same but I'm wondering if it would be worth getting for the right price and trying to get it fixed? Or should I just stay far away from it? Electrical problems with cars can be a nightmare I'm sure.

you'd almost think a big draw like that would be easier to find and fix than the pesky little ones. Is there an aftermarket alarm or starter or stereo in it? Something like a poorly installed starter can be awful to uninstall.
I've never had a draw like that that I didn't bring on myself with a messed up deck install or something.
