  • Timing belt / Water Pump replacement '03 GTI

    Hi Chris,

I just imported a 20th AE GTI from the states and the car currently has about 47,000 miles on the clock. I am just wondering, when do you folks recommened replacement of the timing belt / water pump , and what sort of cost would you estimate it would run for your shop to perform the work? Also, I read that ECS makes an aftermarket kit with a different impeller design on the water pump that is supposed to be more durable. Do you have access to such parts? Thanks in advance for any advice! I look forward to bring my car into your shop for a Unitronic flash and possible aftermarket downpipe install.

I just had this done on my imported gti, vw recomends that you do it at 80,000 miles.... chris kinda uses a kit of his own, with all the best stuff... it was just over 1200 for my tbelt and water pump, alot of labour to get to those things, but its alot cheaper then having to buy a new block!
I got the uni tune and eurojet 3 inch from chris also, you will be very happy with the parts.
Chris is a real great guy, and i am very happy to have found his shop, i am sure you will be also
