I would like to thank the guys at TUNEDUB for the great work they did on my car. Honesty goes a long way in my books and the service was top notch.
To fill everyone in.....
Had a timing belt done by my local VW dealer. $1500 total. 15000kms later it starts to make noise. I take it back and they tell me its a serpintine belt/tensioner and not to worry they will correct it when it gets worse. Well the noise did get worse and I finally took it in. It went from a serpintine belt/tensioner(Less then a couple hundred $$) to a worn tensioner for the timing belt. I think they knew it was the timing belt tensioner the first time but didnt want to work on it while their part was under warrenty. So I was to flip over another $1500 for it to be done again(since now the 20000km warrenty had passed). Also by now I could hear a noise from my tranny. They claimed it was "a release bearing" that was going and it would cost $1100 for that. So I decided for another opinion. Took this car to 2 tranny shops in town and they both said the same thing. "release bearing".
After some thought I decided to trust this forum and try TUNE DUB. Well after fixing the timing belt the noise from the tranny isnt there. I find it weird. A fix total of under $900(tax in) instead of $2600(no tax included).
Like I said before. Service was top notch. I drove the car up from Lethbridge. Left it 2 days(cause of my work schedual), returned home to work my 14 hour shifts/day and drove back up today(Friday) to pick it up. Even with paying for gas, meals, shopping I spent less then $1000 total. Oh I have now been up for 56 hours straight!
Thank you.
Your service and honesty has me as a loyal customer. Along with my service you will now have three others from my facility who are TDI owners come to you. They are all tired of poor service. Each of us would rather drive 2.5 hours for a service then to be lied to and have our cash stolen for work that doesnt need to be done.
P.S. This thread isnt to bash any one person or dealer . I am just happy to have had someone be honest with me and take the time. I did my homework and had three opinions my release bearing was going. I am a little pissed cause I feel I was lied/mislead (to) about my timing belt. Big difference between a timing belt and serpintine belt. Say $1300 worth. Glad I didnt agree to anyone pulling the tranny, to tell me nothing is wrong with it for $100/hr.
