  • Has your paint seen better days?

I don't think the paint on my car has ever been clay barred, polished or waxed. I used a product called Meguiar's ultimate compound, simply put it's amazing. This is all hand polish, no power tools. The end result is with wax but the shine isn't much less after the ultimate compound. Check out the pad i used, took off so much oxidized paint.

    Steps:
    -Wash
    -Clay Bar
    -Maguiar's ultimate compound
    -Mother's micro glaze polish
    -Mother's carnauba wax

I just finished the rest of the car and it looks like a whole new car. Shoulder is a little sore, but worth it.

Ultimate Compound does wonders. Used it to detail the cars last season, applied with a Simoniz 10" random orbital buffer (used it, motor burnt out just as I finished the 3rd car...returned it).

I'm on the hunt for a porter cable variable speed buffer now, would be a great tool to have.

Yeah i had one of those a few years ago, it lasted about one panel and died. Returned it and never bought one again.

I've always wanted to get a power polisher but I've heard of so many horror stories of people who didn't do it right that I'm too scared to get one and do it myself.

From what i've read, if you're a beginner then a Dual action orbiter like the porter cable is safer. a more powerful Rotary buffer polishes/compounds much faster but also has the potential to instill holograms and even burn through your clear coat. a DA orbital wont ever give your holograms or burn your paint. i bought the PC and have only used it once. it was my first time too. it was a piece of cake. two step polish and it removed all my swirls nicely. lots of videos on how to use it. i wouldn't be afraid. its pretty safe.

Canadian Tire has the PC7424 . It's pretty powerful from what i've heard and for harder clear coats and more power, go with the FLEX or Rupes
