Hey All,
Nice to see there is a scene here.
I had to sell my Mk2 when we moved and believe me i missed it more than home itself for 4 years so i finally went out and picked up a 2000 MkIV GTI 1.8T AWD. its got a couple of probs and is sat in my garage at the mo but, yeah, it looks the part and it feels damn good to be back in the seat again
I came across the site looking for advice and answers what to do with the new beast. The clutch, brake lights and drivers heated seat are all dead. But my main worry is the clutch, i got it off someone who'd only had it for a year and didnt know much about it and theres no paper work with it (yeah i know but lifes a gamble).
Anyway, Its lowered with an Airdesign body kit and its got a a TurboXs BOV so im a bit concerned that it may have been chipped/remapped and if putting a standard clutch in wont be a match for the power if it has been. So I was wondering if there is any easy way to tell if its been worked on (beside a rolling road, hard to do with little clutch left). Do they have to do anything to the computer that would be visible etc? any easy way to tell?
I was thinking of taking it to a garage (if there is one knowledgeable enough) to get it looked over and to see if they can spot any none standard stuff etc n tell if it is mapped, maybe they could work out if a bigger clutch was needed? from browsing the forums it sounds like TuneDub may be the place? but id rather find out without paying a bunch for it.
Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone has, all ideas are gladly received
Oh, heres a piccy,
Looks awesome to me
Cheers,
Kordain.
PS Couldn't find info on joining the club, so if anyone can point to the right place
