  • Battery warranty?

My '03 GTI's battery seems to be toast, and won't hold a charge for more than a day. Once running, everything is fine, so I'm sure the alternator is charging properly. Does anyone know if this would still be under warranty? If not, where would you suggest I pick up a replacement. I stopped in at part source, and their look-up catalog lists a battery they don't carry. From what their look-up showed, the VR6 takes the same battery as a TDI, which is different than the 1.8T's.

    Thanks for any info,

    Jeff

    Re: Battery warranty?

I doubt it would be covered under warrenty.

I highly recommend going to Costco for batteries. Their "Kirkland" batteries are:
    1)Super Cheap
    2)Good quality
3)Best warrenty program i've ever seen. 3 years no questions asked full replacement, and then another 7 years of pro-rated warrenty after that.

I prefer Canadian Energy batteries, they are cheap, high quality and have a great warranty.

Hah it won't be under warranty definitely.

A battery is a battery IMO, other than looks-wise.

          Re: Battery warranty?

I have had good luck using gel cell batteries in some of my vehicles/motorcycles/boats. They are a little more money up front but they seem to last much longer and have a higher cranking amp rating etc.

Where can I get one for a TDI/VR6?

Costco sells their version of the Optima battery...usually for much less then the same battery with the Optima label.
