  • Got a 2007 VW Rabbit

My GF picked up a new 07 Rabbit on Saturday. We live together so I will be driving it a lot too.

I have always been "affraid" of buying a VW due to their reputation out there so this is a test case of sorts for us. So far the car is great. The interior is way nicer than anything in the class and it's a great city runner.

If this works out I might have to look into trading my ride in for a matching Gti

The difference is the powerplant, transmission, interior trim, exterior trim and a few other things.

To equate the MKIV's and MKV's:

              MKIV Golf = MKV Rabbit
              MKIV GTI = MKV GTI

Nice car, I want a White MKV Rabbit so bad!

Anyone know if there has been a supercharger developed for the 2.5 yet?

There is no supercharger kit out for the 2.5L yet.

I don't think you're likely to see one for a while since it is not simple. There is basically no room with the 2.5L engine under the hood to fit the supercharger. As I recall the passenger side is really cramped and there is no room for a pulley even. Not sure how it would be done but it would be a PITA.

I think a turbo is more likely for the 2.5L since you can almost always find some way to route the exhaust header to a spot with more space.

If you want to speed up your 2.5L right now you can basically get an intake (probably does nothing), an exhaust and some motor mounts.

Neuspeed built their Thunder Bunny test car with a 2.5L turbo, I heard they will sell you the turbo kit if you let them install it for something like $8,000.

Before long there will probably be an APR turbo kit or something.

Re: Got a 2007 VW Rabbit

I got it at Vanee Motors as they had one in stock. No waiting so that was the biggest selling point. She wanted white and in most cases the wait would have been a few months.

I hope we can get it serviced in Calgary at one of the dealers without much issue. And yes the GF can't drive manual so auto it is.

At least my own car is manual I gotta tell you guys so far we both love the car. It just feels different, more substantial, than what we are used to..
