The 15K price for the golf includes freight PDI which is good. I'm really considering a golf as a 2nd vehicle as well. I think it was 18 with all the safety/electrics.

Actually its $14900 plus freight and PDI!!

Whups - did the comparison a bit too long ago. Still, cheaper than focus/cobalt, and within 1000ish of the Fit. Not as good on gas, but other than that, a great deal.

Priced out a City golf, auto, power group, heated seats, air cond and with everything it came to about 21K

We decided for 4 K more we should go with a Rabbit.

The point of the city X is not to load it up with automatics/alloys/moonroofs/AC, etc.

The rabbit will be over 26 with auto/conv/no sunroof.

A guy at work loaded a rabbit to the gills and was just a touch over 30K. He realizes now he should have got a GTI.

Tornado red city, 5speed/no AC/all safety = 17,400 - yummy. Even a hyundai accent is only marginaly cheaper.

I guess you're right. City is a great deal if you leave it basic. You can have a rabbit auto 2dr with conv, heated seats, alloys and esp for under 26 OTD which is still decent.

Yep - the rabbit is competitive price wise as well. Just miffed that they are 15K in the US which is about 19 Cdn.

Course if you're importing, a Citi Golf from SA is a Mk1 with a Mk4 interior. Supasexy!

These are meant to be left as strippers... Option em out and they start to outprice themselves. These new citi models are hard on resale for those of us who paid full price not 2-3 years ago... The dealership said they have come down 8000 for the basic platform...

SCFC has an Arnica Yellow City Golf on its lot at the moment, looks pretty close to Imola, from what I can tell.

I have often thought getting on and picking up all the used MK4 parts around could make for a nice yet not too pricey project, with Euro style and not too much power of course

Yellow golf slammed on 17" RS's would be HOT
Or those 5 spoke Schmidts (race lite I think?)

Thats all you need to make a nice city golf....... someone should do it

I hate the freight charge and all that. When you go to Safeway and buy a watermellon from mexico they dont charge you an extra 10% for freight. I wish the dealerships and that is all of them would just add that into the price
