Fixing a key remote

I have one remote that works really well and the other works only part time and only from close distances (still working part time). I replaced the battery as a first step but there was no change

Anyone encounter this and have a fix?

i think you can get a used remote off of ebay, attach your keyed piece, and have the remote reprogrammed to your car for a lot less the a new remote. don't take my word for it.. but i'm pretty sure it's not to tough to do.

Or I suppose I could take it to the dealer and have them replace it for free.

I just don't like taking it to the dealer. Nothing against them at all, I just don't like driving there in the morning, waiting for the phone call, taking the shuttle back and sitting in rush hour traffic. I walk to work normally.

I need to find my valet key before taking it in - assuming they need to reprogram it. ugh.

I had my valet key yesterday, now I can't find it. Is it possible to get the remote keys reprogrammed then do the valet key manually myself?
