hey guys my brothers 2003 golf 2.0 is being very sketchy... there is not heat coming from the vents.. and the car tends to over heat... but when at idle the temp goes back down to 90.. the fan is also not kicking in.. i changed the thermostat and flushed the coolant thinking it was the thermostat... but still has the same symptoms... any help would be appriciated..

Yup, should be water pump. No plastic bits in the coolant when you flushed it? There was a noticable amount in mine when I flushed the coolant while diagnosing.

The fans don't kick in because the pump isn't getting the water to the rad. Checking the fans is a pretty simple test (I did that too).

Should still be under warranty, unless you have unusually high kms.

Yea my 2.0L water pump went at 120,000 Km's. Stupid plastic piece of junk impeller. By the new pump with the brass impeller and yea it cost me 300 for the after market pump and 600 bucks to install. Get your timming belt done while your at it seeing as they have to get down there any way. The way I found out was I was on the HIgh way and both coolent hoses were cold they should heat up if theres warm coulent running through them.
