    Hi Guys

I'm looking for so help deciding what dealerships in town, that I should avoid going to. I'm looking to purchase a new GTI, and I know that there are some guys on here in VW sales.

Basically im looking for some exp. that you've had with local dealers(Only with sales, not service)

    Thanks

    Re: Dealership Suggestions

The guys at Fifth Ave VW have always been good to me. When I purchased my 03 1.8T, I looked at Fifth Ave but they were asking 2 grand more than what I paid for at Northland. In a new car however, it shouldn't matter and I wasn't all that impressed with Northland's service, they had the "typical" salesman thing going on.
    Got 5?

just go to all 3 dealerships here in calgary...get a price from one of them and then go to the other and be like well there giving it to me for this price or that price, you want to beat that?? It dosent matter which dealership you buy from as long as you get the car you want for a good price.

But maintenance/service wise 5th ave takes it..Lauren in the service dept is really great to deal with.

I think that in addition to the best price, you have to consider delivery and how much BS you're willing to put up with. I got fed up after salesmen would always tell me 'yup, we've got 6 of those here right now' and then when I showed up and we made an offer, they'd come back and say 'Oohhh, I didn't realize that one was sold, someone forgot to put the sticker on it' or something else, and then they'd try to push one with more options or something I didn't want instead, with next to no discounts. (I'd have been happy to pay the same amount for a car with more options ). This may have been a bit different, since I was looking at stock cars and ordering wasn't really an option (TDI's near the end of last year); but the amount of running around and stories I got in Calgary drove me (literally) to buy from Lethbridge at Vanee Motors. I dealt with Brad White, and he was terrific. He was up front about what he had, and the status of the cars; then he went out of his way to make sure that I got the car I wanted. I put a deposit down over the phone, and drove out to pick it up. It was all ready and we had no problems whatsoever - the fact that he beat any Calgary dealerships by a few grand as well was icing on the cake. He's given me a few other quotes on other new VW's for friends and family, and always come in with the lowest price. I'll gladly go back to deal with him again, and the added bonus is that you get to take the car for a nice long drive when you first get it! The only downside that I can think of is test drives - but that's what dealerships in Calgary are for! And if they get their act together regarding pricing and availability, I'd definetly consider buying from Calgary; but until then it's Vanee Motors all the way for me.

        Hope that helps!

That's $695 below MSRP. I would not really consider that a great deal. It's an Ok deal but you should be able to do better on a 34K vehicle.

Anything less than MSRP is a good deal!! We have delivered probably 25 new GTI's and none of them have been less than MSRP. We still have a 3 month waiting list for these cars so I would definately say thats a great deal!!!

I am not trying to be rude or anything so I apologize if I come off as that. I am just trying to understand this better. I know that cars that are in short supply are harder to get a better deal on for sure!

Is it the same deal with Rabbits then? What would one be able to get the Rabbit for?

                      Hey man,
I didn't take you as rude at all!! I realize we currently have 2 GTI's in stock but they were sold orders that fell through when they arrived. Rabbits are the same right now as are city golfs and city Jettas!!! I'm sure it will end soon but its basically impossible to walk onto a VW lot right now and buy one of the above mentioned vehicles from inventory, hence the inflexibilty in price!

                      Cheers
