  • Will it Ever Stop?!

It seems there is always something wrong with my baby...
Yesterday on my way to school my temerature light decided to com on for no reason...
I parked, shut it off and popped the hood to check out possible circumstances.... Nothing
I started it agin ad I was about half a km away from the school... The temp still kept rising
After it being off for a few hours I stated it again and it has been fine since
Anyone hae any ideas as to what my have caused this?

Coolant Temp Sensor is a possibility. Check to see if you yours has a green top or black top. If it has a black top, upgrade. The car will actually idle smoother as well.

that would be a much cheaper solution. those sensors are like 10$ (mine went)

I'm leaning toward the water pump, would the coolant lever be a lot higher than normal if it was the pump? Go for a drive on the highway to see if it get's hot at higher engine speeds. I'm sure you could feel the upper hose to see if it's stupd hot.

the last couple days when its been cold and my cars been sitting outside all day, after work when i start it the temperature light comes on for like 5 minutes.

by the way dont feel bad right now my driver side window is jammed i cant use it at all, my interior lights come on all the time since the door lock sensor is screwed, and my temperature light comes on when its cold, and o ya ever since i put my winter rims back on my front end vibrates on the highway. lol

Check to see if you are getting coolant flow from the little hose going to your coolant bottle when the engine is running. If there is no flow then your waterpump is fooked. Also check your freezing point of your coolant. Your coolant may have froze for a while causing no flow thus temporarily overheating the engine. When the coolant thawed your car went back to normal.

Im guessing that your right on that one
It has been fine ever since then and I have taken it out on the highway a few times now and nothing.
VW's dont really seem to take to kindly to cold weather... Specially the newer ones

if you ever put anything other the the coolant from the dealer in the system, it can cause all sorts of problems too.
