    Re: AWWW Crud!!!

E-mail sent....I'm not overly concerned about it, but as you seem to be, I've followed up with you.

      Re: AWWW Crud!!!

There's a procedure you can do yourself to code a new key to the car. It involves something with putting it in the door and doing something else. I believe the Bentley actually has a procedure on it.

If you need a VAG-Com cable, there's a few of us who have them, me included.

        Re: AWWW Crud!!!

Thanks for the offer....what I think I want to do is change the code in the car so it's not like my "lost" key any more....althought someone said something about if you push the buttons enough out of range of the car, the car will ignore it?

If I do get a new key, I'll be back asking about how to train the remote...

          Re: AWWW Crud!!!

          OK...update time.

I got a new (used) key off of eBay and have trained the remote to open/lock the doors (a search on this site yielded the instructions). I've ordered a blank key blade so I can get it cut. I guess that I just have to get it cut now and deal with the immobilizer coding.

A guy at Northland told me that the immobilizer transponder can only be coded once? The DIY on Vortex seems to indicate that it CAN be done either with a VAG-COM or by the dealer, but that all keys must be re-coded. Anybody have any experience with this?

              Re: AWWW Crud!!!

Well, I'm still waiting for the new blade to get here so I can get it cut at the same time they do the immobilizer.

SCFC said they'd be happy to do it and were surprised at what NL said. Maybe the guy at NL didn't understand what I asked. Who knows....

More likely they were having a greedy moment and wanted you to do the whole thing through them and pay a mint in the process.
Let me know how you go on withit pls.
                Cheers

                  Re: AWWW Crud!!!

So, My Sympathies For The Bad Luck. As For What You Can Do: If You Do Purchase A New Key, Which'll Have To Be Ordered By Vin, It Will Have To Be Reprogrammed Both Key Half And Remote Half. Which Indeed Will Render Both Other Parts Useless. Unfortunatlely The Key Will Still Work In All Of The Lock Cylinders, However The Remote Will Not Page The Car And The Key Will Not Start The Car. (assuming You Have An Immobilzer). If You Have Any Other Questions Give Me A Holler Directly At Scfc's At 640-8519. P.s. Sorry Bout The Caps Lock Guys, Need 'em For Work.

ONE MORE THING. ALLKEYS NEED TO BE DONE WHEN CODED TO IMMOBILIZER, BUT IT CAN BE DONE MORE THAN ONCE.
