  • VR6 and Crappy Tire Coolant heater

Can anyone shed some light on how the install of a crappy tire coolant heater went on a 24v VR6 (or 12V VR6)? Also, which one did you buy if possible.

    Thanks.

I would suggest staying away from the inline heater and picking up an oil pan heater! I have seen far to many inline heaters leak , plus you would be introducing 2 weak links in the cooling system which may lead to problems in the future! On another note a stick on oil pan heater is generally cheaper and easier to install! My 2 cents

The instant heat and clearance below encourage me to do the inline thing. But you're right about weak points and leakage (and Crappy Tire parts). But then there is the whole car burning up thing when you're stick on one meets a manhole then gets plugged in...

Any idea where I'd find a stick on version? To my knowledge VW doesn't sell/support them.

There are lots of people who have been putting in the inline heaters, I think they are pretty bulletproof.
