  • Air Bag Problem?

Ok, so I started my car this afternoon and all my lights such as the e brake symbol, abs symbol, traction control symbol, air bag symbol and my digital park, reverse, neutral, drive, 1, 2, 3 on the dash all started flashing

I shut the car off and then started it again. The only thing that stayed on was the airbag light
I read up and its a malfunction in the system
I have to take it into VW
    Anyone have a similar problem?
Can anyone lend insight as to how uch it will cost to fix?
Or is there anything I can do to fix this?

Yes I have seen this before, I was test driving a 01 wolf and it stayed on during the test drive. Now mine is on too I have a 02. I don't know how much it costs to fix but mine has to go in for the water pump so I will find out while it is there.

Sounds like the heater cord. If you are plugging in your car make sure your heater is still stuck to the oil pan otherwise you are risking a fire.

                  Re: Air Bag Problem?

was looking at vag-com notes, and the mentioned a possible problem scanning the airbag module in 2001 models that could make your airbag light stay on indefinitely.... so yeah, might be best to get a dealer to scan it (unless by some chance you know the s/n or your airbag controller )

                        Re: Air Bag Problem?

The last time I saw all of those lights flashing there was a prblem with the airbag control module causing communication problems between the air bag control module and the instrument cluster. Then after we replaced the air bag control module we had to replace the crash sensors as there were superceded parts. Total bill came to about 2 G's. Now don't panic, this is the worst case senario that I have personally seen with the air bag light and now the light may be on because of the glitch and may only need to be reset. Other wise you may need an air bag or ignitor, either way the car needs to be scanned.
