Re: HELP : gti hatch wont lock!!!!!!!
Does it latch? if it does and it doesn't honk it means you most likely have a bum microswitch in your latch. either way you'll be needing a new latch. unless you can find a microswitch.Like Type 2's? Visit my blog!

Re: HELP : gti hatch wont lock!!!!!!!
Can you replace those switches Dave? I took mine out a while back (lock is pooched) and took a look at the switch, it doesn't look like it can be removed. Mine doesn't beep but it will after a couple minutes. One of these days I will get around to fixing it.Name: Brent

Re: HELP : gti hatch wont lock!!!!!!!
I know you can in the early Passat, all you had to do is remove the latch and take the plastic cover off and the switch is removable. As for the Golf/Jetta I'm having a moment. I can't remember if you can or not.Like Type 2's? Visit my blog!

Re: HELP : gti hatch wont lock!!!!!!!
It looked to me that the switch was between two riveted plates. It is also a slide switch so I am not sure on the type of switch it has inside. On another note though I have finally solved the starter grind issue and I am pretty sure it will not come back ever again, I should have taken pictures but I can let people know if they want.Name: Brent

Re: HELP : gti hatch wont lock!!!!!!!
Hi guys,
There's a good post on the vortex. If your car only doesn't lock when you close the trunk, then I'd say to replace the lock on the trunk.
Otherwise, if you have that problem and occasionally get a beep in the car while driving or the alarm goes off when you open/close the door, then you'll probably have to repair the microswitches in the driver's door or replace that mechanism.
Have a read...
