Your not the winner ... not going for the golf score Besides my talon averaged 350kms to a tank.
But the diesel today had over a quater tank when I filled it with 853 kms my best so far was 920 but Ive just started the venting process for the last 2 tanks. Its nice to pull about 300k before the tank starts to move

Slow down a bit and get 750+ highway with your 1.8T. And if you had an extra 10L tank (which is essentially venting), there's another 150.

Measuring by km/tank is silly unless you keep it consistant. But 1000k on a trip meter is probably neat to see.

The max i've done on a hwy is close to 600 but that involved the car going at high speeds (sometimes even 200km/h) and a lot of gearing down and climbing hills on my way to Vancouver which was not bad.

What is tank venting anyways? I'm not familiar with it.

theres a button of sorts on the inside left side of the filler hole, if you push on it, it lets the air our of the tank, and more fuel in... I usually just hold it down with the spring thing that most pump nozzles have on them. makes a big difference.

310-340 km / tank around the city for me, doesn't really matter how nice I drive it... but darn the supercharged VR is fun!! With numbers like what everybody has posted, I really should get a TDI for the daily driver...

Note that venting is only for diesel tanks! Do not do it on a gas car otherwise you are going to dump fuel everywhere. Diesel fuel doesn't foam as much when you fill your tank hence the reason we can put more in, the vent is just left over from the gas tank design.

Diesel doesn't expand as easily as gasoline, thats the reason.

The "vent" is to provide space for your gasoline to expand on hot days. Since diesel doesn't expand as easily we can fill it up and not have any spillage problems

I usually average about 1100-1200 kms/tank with vent mod. I also NEVER drive the speed limit. I have gone from Lethbridge-Vernon and had over a 1/4 tank left at an average of about 120kms. That included flooring it on the passing lanes in the mountains. GO TDI. This is with all the mods done as well. I actually get more kms after the mods I have done.

no no no, you are both wrong, the vent is so that on hot days it doesnt compress and ignite all the fuel in the tank eheh

It would be a tough sell to go with another car that wasent gas. What are the other diesel options in Canada?

but i dont understand
i have a 4cyl bmw 318is, and i only get about 550-600km per 50L tank
is this normal/good?
and for me, it doesnt really change the milage, wheather i drive like a grand mother or if i go into lik 5k rpm every shift.
most of you are getting twice as much milage as me

If it was a 6cyl you would only get 400-500kms on the tank.
