  • Cheaper car ideas?

Hey guys, well i may be building a house in a few months, and if i need more money then i can get by then, i might need to sell my GTI and have something a little cheaper.

Do any of you have any susgestions on cars that would be still nice and fun to drive but cheaper? i am thinking around 12 grand max. Lets hear some ideas! Any one bought off ebay before? some good stuff on there but a little scared.

    Thanks guys.

For Under $12,000 you should be able to get a MKIII GTI VR6 and that'll be fun to drive. Or you can get an MKII and fix that up..........maybe drop a VR6 in it?
    Got 5?

          02 tdi gls jetta

and you aint gonna find an e36 with a 6cyl for 12 grand...a 92 318 in decent shape perhaps, but the 325/8's still demand a pretty penny from what ive seen

you could possibly get a b5 a4 but it'd have higher mileage

                      Re: Cheaper car ideas?

Just remember, an older car isn't always cheaper. Might be cheaper to buy but there will be maintenance, especially if you're looking for an older BMW . I'd say stick with what you got.

                      With that said, good luck.

How much in total would it cost to get a mk2 and put a vr6 in it? This one looks awesome. Also has a vr6 in it.

                              Re: Cheaper car ideas?

there's a guy on CVD selling his. he didn't change the subframe, (kinda stupid) and because he didn't, he's selling it for cheap. you can change the subframe, slap on a turbo. and in the end you spent about 8k (including price of the car).

i know mitcheh is selling his motor, and tripleG knows a guy selling a motor too. i think that all said and done engine bought installed and turboed. shouldn't be over 7k

hardest part will be finding a decent doner car. a mk 2 in good condition is nearly impossible to find. however there is a t-red jetta in the classifieds that's in good condition and would probobly be a good doner
