  • Bad Drive in.

Well was driving to work today with the girl friend when all of a sudden the passanger window dropped like a rock into the door! i nearly **** my pants. Scared the crap out of me. So the rest of the drive was mighty cold and i was pretty pissed off. I dropped the car off at crystal glass on 9th ave and they fixed the window and a few small parts for 60 bucks. Good service if any one runs into the same problem.

    Re: Bad Drive in.

VW would have fixed it for free, very widley known issue..I think pretty much everyone I know with a mkiv has had this happen lol

Id take your bill to VW and see if they'll pay it...very unlikely, but you never know

edit: Mine went while goin ~130km on the deerfoot lol..As soon as I heard the thud, I just started laughing

            Re: Bad Drive in.

Goodwill warranty - 7 or 8 years. I have the letter, and keep tape and garbage bags in my trunk in case it happens.

Which of course would explain why I've never had one drop on me yet, go figure.

hmm.. i called VWoC a few months ago about the goodwill warranty and the rep on the phone played dumb and said that he had never heard of such thing.

can someone scan a copy of the letter and send it to me?

heh, they ALWAYS play dumb...at the dealership level however, they seem willing to get 'er done...Granted you have to wait a freakin' week+ to get into service with some of the dealers

SCFC wouldn't honour the goodwill warranty, either.

I'd just pay the 60 bux rather than wait on a dealership

                        What a heck!

When the window fell in for me, the dealer said that there was no recall for that. I made the dealer call VWofC and they stated that it is not a recall!

I hope that they are telling me the truth!

If anyone can scan the letter and send it to me that would be much appriciated because i wanna get my money back!

On a recall note, is it true that there is a recall on the hazard switch's? I cant see any problem with mine but I heard somewhere there was a recall on them?

A goodwill warranty is not a recall, it is up the the dealers discresion but most have been doing it anyways. 5th ave gave me the run around when I first took mine in but they did cover it.

Yeah its true, i had my car in a few months ago to replace the starter under warrantee and when i picked it up they also mentioned that they replaced the hazard switch due to a recall.
