  • door light problem

I have an issue with what I think is the door sensor that controls the lights and alarm.
    THe issue.....

Passenger door....driving down the road the light on the bottom part of the door, the light on the passenger side rear door(above door), and also my centre cons where the sunroof dial is comes on at random. Usually with bumps in the road/truning corners/braking or even accelerating. This is getting very annoying and I am not sure what to do or what it can be. Now my alarm goes off all hours of the day for no reason(with the wond blowing). When driving the door agar light comes on in the insturment cluster. I know its the pass door b/c if I hit the arm rest on the door it usually shuts the lights off until I hit the next bump. So its a short. Can anyone tell me if they have had the same issue? I just got the G60 flywheel/VR6 clutch done but I dont think that triggered all this(maybe a sensor somewhere that could have been hit while doing the clutch). I thought maybe it was the door latch but playing with it it seemed to work like the rest of the doors. I will take off the door panel tomorrow to get a better view but if anyone has had this same issue can you let me know. I would really like to pin point it without pulling everything apart and end up at a dead end.

    Thanks

    Re: door light problem

you need a new door lock control module i think? my driver door on the other hand never thinks its open anymore, so i can lock the car with the door open, interior lights never come on when i open my door, etc... its a pricey part too, basically the contact switch went dead.

      Re: door light problem

i have the same problem with my driverside door, ive just gotten used to opening and closing my door as im driving down the road, also it doesnt always lock the car when i arm it, so i have to open it then lock it and make sure its actually locked. theres a diy repair on vwvortex somewhere about this, u take apart the actual module and resolder the little contacts it supposed to work good. i still havent gotten around to trying this yet, but i will try it before i spend the money to buy a new part.

Okay thanks guys....it makes sense. Anyway of stopping the alarm for now. I am up every hour at least once an hour. I dont have time to rip apart my car with my work schedual and I have become very worn down with this happening all weekend. I have thought about disconecting my horn. I would like to keep the keyless entry and lock working just stop the alarm till I can get a day off and fix this thing.

            Update....

Thanks to those who helped. I finsihed the project. I rate it a 4/10. I only rate it that high cause there are many steps but they all are easy. Putting things back together and remembering my steps backward became the problem. I had all intentions of fixing the door lock module myself but after I got it apart I decided "I am cold. Lets get this over with". So I put in the new one. Total time under 2hrs. Now that I have done it, I think I could do it over in less then an hour. Hardest thing to find is the 8mm three triple square. Hunted most of the day for it. Finally, the ONLY one who carries it in Lethbridge is CEP automotive. $10 for it. They supply VW here with tools. The module was $150 after tax. Driver side they said was close to $300 after tax. Then came the labour if they installed it. They claim 1.2 hours.
Oh and I have had no more problems that I stated after the repair so I guess it was the proper fix.
