Help: Engine Knocking!!

Hey I was driving my 95 Passat VR6 the other day when I suddlenly lost power and the engine started knocking.

I pulled over and at idle the engine was knocking a bit but when I reved it up to 2000 + RPM's it start to knock like crazy. To make matters worse my Tranny also started to leak at the pan.

Anyone know what the knocking could be from (eg. Bearings, lifters, ect...)

Also suggestions on a good mechanic to get this fixed in Calgary.

Thanks for the love folks. But it sounds like the fat lady has sung. I think your VR6 has seen better days. Might be time to start shopping for a new or new to you engine. Also if the vehicle is equipted with an atomic transmission I wouldn't put anymore money into it, depending on the km's on the car you may be shopping for a new or new to you transmission soon too. Sorry about the negativity but I'm just telling you from experience.
