You are going to have to narrow that question down a bit, what controller? ecu? cluster? either way vag-com will not tell you those. Plus you need to say what year car etc as not all diagnostic protocols are the same.

Fun car: '92 Blue Karmann Crabby Cabby Mods: Coils, front and rear swaybars, LED interior lights and some other old things.
A "1K0 937 049 M" or "3C0 937 049 S" lighting control module is required for this kit to function as OEM. Contact your dealer or service facility to determine if you have this module. Most recent vehicles are equipped with it, but it pays to confirm.
Vag-com won't tell you that, just pull out the ecu and read the number off it.
