Stupid aftermarket stereo install

So, I'm installing the pioneer double dinn touch screen in dash 6 disc dvd player in the MKV. I tell ya, what a freakin pain in the ars. So far so good but man oh man long, tedious work I tells ya. And vw wiring diagrams aren't the eaisiest to read I'll tell you that. And the MKV has no accessory wire, wierd!
Good 'ol volkstech is gonna double check my install for me which is good but man what a pain!

haha that's what you get for going aftermarket! Should've bought an OEM Nav lol.....the pioneer will looks sweet though

The OEM nav is sweet but the display is way smaller, this one has a 7" inch display. Also the pioneer one is 6 disc in dash, and it has a whole sh*tload of accessories that can be attached. My ps2 is first, the the vehicle dynamics add-on, GPS, Bluetooth and last but not least TV Tuner.

Haha bart. mine is touchscreen. couldn't see the pic for the new vw nav though, only red "x". red mile there are 2 versions of the deck, and I' will post pics of the install when complete, should be today sometime. requires a little modifaication as:
1) the double din dash kit is made for a single din deck with a storage pocket
2) the square trim piece that goes around the deck has to be modded to fit in the dash kit with the rounded corners.
3) there is no wiring harness for the MKV yet
4) steering wheel controls require an adapter
5) there is some back feed so far, occasionally keeping the car running when the key is even removed from the ignition
HOWEVER, if you're driving MK4, should be a piece of cake.
All of these problems will be solved today though

mr burns. deck was about $1190 + dash kit (approx $60)

i seen someone that makes a dash kit for single and i think double din decks for the mkv, with the rounded corners already... search vortex, that may make it easier and will look better then if you were to add bondo or something and try to round off the corners yourself.

That is sweet. Too bad I don't have a MKV. Just curious if anyone knows what sort of OEM decks there are for the MKIV?

How much would that cost to go OEM nav? And is it worth it?
