I have a 2001 vr6 and the emmisions workshop light is comming on. Auto value tried to scan the codes, didnt work. Concept 1 want $45 to scan the codes, but I was told that if the factory radio has been replaced that it wouldnt work.

    Re: emmisions workshop

That's not true. The only time you have a problem is if the K-wire is left plugged in.

What happened when the other guys scanned it? Didn't come up with anything or said your radio was in trouble?

It said "not responding" when the guy tried to scan it. I thought the radio might be the prob because my brothers car couldnt be scanned with an aftremarket radio installed

Yeah, you have to make sure the K wire doesn't get added back into the harness. Just cap it off. Should do the trick.

            Re: emmisions workshop

What year car do you have? Engine, Auto/manual, A/C? I probably won't need all that info, but never hurts to have it. If you have a Bentley for the car, there are wiring diagrams in there that show you what the K-Wire is.

                Re: emmisions workshop

Yeah.............................since the CD cost me $80+, I'm probably not going to email a copy to you. I can, however, fire you off some wiring diagrams.

Monsoon stereo previously? CD changer? Anything funky?

                    Re: emmisions workshop

If you want, I have a full version of vagcom with the rosstech adapter that has k-line protection built in. I can read the codes probably, but my time is very limited right now with work, so you would probably have to come to me. I live up in the north in Panorama, and either later tonight, or tomorrow afternoon early evening I will have some time. It should take 10 mins at most to figure it out and you can fix your problem, or clear the codes atleast.
Hope to be able to help
