Supposedly mk4 which is why a lot of current owners are pissed. Be prepared for a resale value bath.

                Re: City Golf 14,900?

I am not sure that it will be all that stripped down, just a MK4 2.slow for cheap and thats that. Really it is a very smart plan as they continue manufacturing a platform that has probably already recouped its costs and then sell it at a cheap price against cars like Kia's and Hyundai's, which it may have a size and option advantage over.

The other important point about all this is that it shows that they are looking at the small/cheap car/hatch market in Canada and paying attention to it which hopefully means we will see a Polo or something like it in the future. Most of you guys have TDIs, VR6s and 1.8Ts so not sure if the resale bath will hurt too much but MK4 prices are already coming down fast.

A preview with all the specifics, sounds like an interesting car, my mother-inlaw is looking for a smaller cheap car and this seems pretty good to me!

I'd rather be driving that as my inexpensive everyday car than my current POS Saturn...

They keep on using the "wont meet emissions standards" reason for not introducing a diesel engine.... but does canada even have such standards implemented yet?

I like the "joey modded" headlights and black grill.... maybe they should have offered textured rubstrips too? lol

as of the end of this month, i believe they should be meeting emmision requirements - the new diesel has to be at pumps right away (it already is in some cases)

But they won't meet requirements in california therefor we all get screwed.
I didn't see the jetta city comming but it does look like a cheap option. I am going ot have to pick up some of those blank cover plates for the cup holder and radio and hack them up for some mods
