Id there much you can do to a vr6 12v to make it faster?
Yes but involves more money. The 1.8T is more "mod friendly" if your into mucking about in the engine bay but may not net any major gains.
What exactly are you looking to achieve? Are you just trying to buy a faster car then your GTI? Or are you looking to get into a VR6 for a particular reason? If you just want to "go faster" maybe you should just keep your 1.8T and look to add a bigger turbo or something?
I just liek knowning that if i wanted to i could make my car faster, and i always plan to one day. i forsure do not want to get into anything slower than my gti. This is going to be a big choice for me haha. I just really love the look of that GLI.
VR6 is a wayyy better engine. I've owned 12V Vr6, 2 1.8t's and 1 24V VR6, there is no comparing, the 24V was the best. I would pick up the red jetta in a heart beat, that price is awesome!!!

ok well here my $.02 1.8t with alot of bolt ons is verry fast , and even if you want to retain the stock turbo its sweet for power , but evrything throws a friggan code , now until you start investing mega money into the performance the 1.8t is king if you plan on changing snails , dont....... go with the vr insted ... its potential is way bigger ....
if comparing stock for stock 2002 up 1.8t is quicker than any 2.8 vr even the 24v
tested it time and time agan at work
Def a GLI and a nice one at that!! I parked next to it a bunch of times at SAIT (at least I think it was you?). Looked good with the Audi wheels on it too.
I like the VR6's even in the mk4's, I've been kicking around the idea of getting a mk4 VR6 myself. I would prefer the 24v but they are a little hard to come by.
Jason,
My car might be going on the market here very shortly. It's time for me to get a MKV.

Never smoked in, parked every winter except half of last winter when my rabbit got hit. I love the car dearly, and i will probably cry when the time comes to part, but you can know that it was well taken care of.
Im not going to start an official FS thread until Ive made a solid decision on what I am going to get... just putting it out there for you to ponder.
EDIT: Oh yeah, car currently has an ABD grille, but I also have an unpainted caractere grille. Chances are I will have the Caractere grille, along with the Votex front painted and installed by the time Im ready to sell.
Are those Wolfsburg Edition badges on the side?
Sweet ride BTW, I want those rims for my car.
I think they are 50th Anniversary badges, VW of Canada was celebrating its 50 years of being in Canada and put a few anniversary badges on some GLIs and GTIs, I think anyway.
