I've actually been looking at SVT Focus's (foci?) lately, such a good deal. I cannot decide what I want to do. I'd love a mk3 VR6 but for the money I can get a 5 year newer, 60,000km less SVT.

And honestly, an SVT is probably about as "Euro" as most of the mk4's crusing around

Audi Introduces New 265-hp S3 Hatchback
Audi Brings Back its All-Wheel Drive Pocket Rocket Hatchback
            Canadian Auto Press
Since the A3 went on sale in North America in 2005, it’s been a big seller for Audi. This little hatchback embodies much of what Audi has achieved in its higher end models - class, sophistication and quality. However, there have always been a few negative connotations about the new A3 hanging about in the air, namely that there isn’t really anything outside of styling to differentiate it from the GTI/Golf. For instance, the drivetrain combinations found on the A3 just so happen to be the same drivetrains found in the Volkswagen GTI and the European Golf R32. But that’s going to change very shortly with the introduction of the new Audi S3.

Pop the hood of the new S3 and what you will find is a heavily re-worked version of the staple 2.0T engine, but this time around, it’s been upped to produce 265 horsepower and a very healthy 258 lb-ft of torque. That officially makes this the most powerful production version of the 2.0T engine, giving this German hatchback the ability to fly to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds! Changes to the engine include strengthened internal components, a bigger turbocharger and a heavier duty intercooler. Audi will only be offering the S3 with a six-speed manual gearbox mated to a Haldex clutch that distributes power to all four wheels.

Pricing in Europe for the S3 starts at 35,150 euros, which is the equivalent of $50,650 Canadian dollars, or $44,600 US dollars. While pricy, Audi would probably find homes for every one imported.

ya, I'll check one of those out for sure as well...If the pricing is anything like the old one (26k loaded, could get it for much less with 0% financing probably..being a ford and all) they are a really good deal

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Am I to read the article that Simon found to be correct and the S3 *is* coming to North America?!?

Re: 25th Anniversary vs. MKV R32

I am not sure I would hold my breath just yet, from the article

There seems to be a bit of a catch with the new S3: it’s only available in a three-door body form, which is traditional to this compact pocket rocket. Audi has not commented on whether it will be offering the S3’s engine, suspension and exterior styling on the 5-door Sportback model, and being that this is the only model sold here an S3 version would certainly help to further the brand’s rapidly growing S-car lineup in North America.

Plus this is from Automotive news

Audi says S3 won't be sold in U.S., yet
The official word from Ingolstadt is that the Audi S3 won't be sold in the United States anytime soon. It is, after all, a three-door hatchback, and Americans still aren't keen on three-door hatchbacks.
