Gas mileage on a 1.8t versus a VR6 has always been very similar... I'll assume the 2.0t has a similar fate.

It's true that a 1.8T and a VR6 have similar gas milage figures, however any vehicle with an AWD system tends to consume more gas than a FWD car.

i can't imagine the r32 being anywhere under 45k. considering the gti is about 35k with leather. the 25th will be about 40k or so. but if i had a choice it would be the r32. i'm getting a mkv gti, and if it goes well i may have to up grade a few years later.

I would definately take the 25th over the R32....it just wouldn't make sense to spend 40-45k on a "sporty" VW when you could have the class of an audi for the same price. And gas would be a huge consideration as well....6 cylinder with AWD would eat through gas like no tomorrow compared to a 2.0 turbo, and if you really had the need for speed just put the extra 5 or so grand you saved by buying the 25th towards engine/suspension work

Well there are rumors of a Fahrenheit Edititon GTI and Jetta at the moment which should be based on the Golf Speed Edition from Europe. The GTI will be Orange and the Jetta Yellow, so not sure what this means about the 25th.

The R32 is also set to be around $33K US with current pricing adjustments that would put it at around $44K Cdn. The only option will be Nav and they will all be 3 door, DSG and leather but still not sure what will happen with Canada. There is a huge dealer meeting next week in Arizona and there are supposed to be details on several new models!!

I must have that orange! If only I could afford it.

Honestly though I think I like the GTI front better, not huge on the chrome (the fact that it is the same as the R32 gives it some points but not enough IMO).

That's what every salesman says about every new car. Then 3 weeks later they show up on the lot.

Edit: agreed with Mike, Yellow on the Jetta=bad. Looks like a big banana.

the suby sti is listed at 31k us and we pay 50k or so. i'm just speculating that the r32 will be up closer to 50k rather than 40k. if it was 40k i might buy if it was 50k wouldn't even think about it.

i was thinking about waiting for the 25th, but with no set date and me wanting a new car i jumped at a gti. oh yeah i hate the plaid interior too, and the 25th is going to have it as well. at least there going to make the sides leather.

Well it is supposedly official that Canada will be getting the shaft again and no MKV R32 for us

Guess that makes this discussion irrelevant now but maybe I will pass on the MKVs now
