That's exactly what my sales guy at NL lead me to believe when he was trying to convince me to trade up from my 4 dr 1.8t to the 4dr GTI.

Well I think what you 1.8T and TDI guys need to remember is that unless i'm mistaken, the city is only going to available in the 2.slow so your car will still be worth something.

somewhat unrelated point, I was on the vw.ca site last night checking out cars and the GL mk4 golf TDI is currently on the vw.ca site as being 23 and change to start and the new rabbit (which basically has all options) started at 19,995, I found that rather interesting.

There won't be any more TDI's for awhile either.

Yea, I guess but a base TDI (roll your own windows and everything) vs a well equipped rabbit I think it would be a no brainer for me (but I guess that's just my opinion).

Yes I think that you 1.8Ts and TDIs will still have an advantage over a City Golf, but some of those cars are getting to be 7 years old too lets not forget.

I don't think that Golf TDI will be up for much longer and I still think a Rabbit would be a nice car for the money.

                      Re: 4 door GTI

Over the weekend I went to SCFC to check out the new GTI, but of course they did not have one. I inquired about trade in value my 01 golf 2.0 Auto with 120k and he told me 5-6k on the purchase of a GTI. This is all because if the stupid Golf City coming out. I do realize that trade-ins always suck, but I thought they would do better than that. I will definatley be keeping my car.

I called a couple of dealers about a trade on my 2001 Golf 2.0 and they won't take them. Look at the pre-owned inventory on vw.ca... there are next to no golfs for sale used. They are doing a good job of anticipating the Golf City.
