My last thread kinda got highjacked so i thought id quickly ask again. Thanks for the Help.

I want my deck installed and just curious the types of things i will need? Where is the best place to get it installed? and how much it should cost in total. Thanks for the help.

just a deck? you need a wiring harness, antenna adaptor and some crimp connectors (or solder if ambitious) and about 30-45mins of time... should cost about 35$ if you do it. Probably another 75$ish on top (guessing a little) for a shop to do it.

Yes i want a shop to do it. Any places known for doing a nice clean job? Is the cubby hole put in just cheap unmatching plastic? or is it decent and looks alright?

        Re: Installing advice

its a pretty basic install, anywhere you take it is just going to use whats in the box and make it fit. They will use the trim that comes with the deck, which may or may not match. Its not anything custom, so I would think anywhere can do a good job, but Audio Concepts is probably on the top of my list for that stuff. I had just a single DIN oem deck, so I have an OEM cubby hole.. If you are talking about having the install guys sell you a cubby, then i'd maybe consider getting a matching one from VW (or wrecker) instead.

            Re: Installing advice

maybe post a 'wanted to buy'. some guys pull them out and stick gauges in there. There may be a few cubbies around. (i feel silly writing 'cubbies'.. is it even a real word?)

                Re: Installing advice

I'm guessing that you could EASILY do a better job of installing it yourself. It's not hard with a harness and that way you know it's done right. I think with Calgary's current employment situation i'd be scared to trust places like Visions or futureshop, etc.

good point.. the dipstick that installed my door speakers at soundsaround didn't realise the windows hit the speakers when I rolled them down. I figured I'd get them to do the install because i didnt have the time, but ended up re-doing most of it myself anyway (after bringing it back once to have them try to fix it - unsuccessfully).

                    Re: Installing advice

Visions in the NE did a pretty good job on my install, no lose wires or anything, a very clean job. Do not take it to Best Buy in Deerfoot Meadows, they were just awful lazy sacks. Talk to Mike in Visions (32 AVE location), he'll give you a pretty good price as well.

                      Re: Installing advice

I had the big factory deck taken out and stuck 3 VDO gauges underneath the deck becuase nobody sells a bracket for the Jetta. Visions might be able to put a custom bracket in. Otherwise for gauges and the full hookup, you're looking at around $500.
