What I like about that european car article are the dyno graphs. Look closely, you will see that adding an aftermarket exhaust doesn't always mean more power! Some of them seem to be producing less power than stock, even though they may be louder and larger. Makes me think a bit before I decide to buy a system "off the shelf" and just hope that it really does make a difference.
On a related note, I have read elsewhere that the Autotech exhaust reviewed in that article (best results imo) is really really good too. I asked at Concept 1 about it once, and they said they could get it in... I guess they have installed one here and town in the past and it was really amazing.
Anyway, all those reviewed are only cat-back, so no downpipe. Some of them get quite a bit of power for only being cat-back! Both more torque and horsepower over the whole rpm range. The Remus has a pretty narrow pipe and is only resonator-back and it still makes great power! I wonder if a turbo-back with DP (brullen) is worth the cost, or if it would be better to just spend more and get a really well-recommended cat-back.
right now i'm going for show before go.. my engine isn't even at 5k yet haha.. so far i think i've dropped 4gs into my car.. maybe i should start putting more money into paying it off quicker.. well i'll do that this fall/winter i guess
