  • Tailight Fuse???

Just a general question for mkIV Jetta owners. Do you know which fuse is for the tailights?
Just bought my mkIV and I was yelled at by another driver yesterday because my tailights weren't on at night. So I pulled over into a parking lot to see if the lights were burnt out but the signal lights and brake lights worked fine.
So I am wondering if it's a fuse for the running lights of my tailights? Or could both of the bulbs be burnt out?

Your running lights are NOT your brake lights.

Running lights are 2nd from the bottom (ie: reverse is at the bottom of the taillight...running lights are in the strip above them).

    Check/replace your bulbs.

Ok, so basically it's the bulbs if all the other lights in the tailight assembly work fine?

I have a MK4 Golf and have learned to carry spare bulbs with me for my tail lights. I am always replacing tail lights, brake lights, etc. From the number of lights out, I know I'm not alone in this...

The nice thing about the German engineering is it takes about a minute to replace them.

Odd. My car is an 02 with 80K and I've only changed one rear bulb. And I don't find them easy compared to other cars.
