So I think I have my dad sold on a TT, any good or bad on these cars? I understand they are build on a Jetta platform but that is all I know.

My Dad had a 2002 ALMS TT and now has a 2004 TT 3.2 (perhaps a MK2 TT soon too ) and they are both great cars, I love the TT. There are faster and cheaper cars out there but the TT does have a style of its own and the interior is classic.

If you have any specific questions I can do my best to help you out.

            Re: Tt

I am planning on getting a TT sometime in the next 6 months probably. If you want a serious performance car, the TT isn't it. The TT however is a totally unique look that I personally believe will always keep it's charm, the interior is amazing as well. They drive very well... feel quite tight and well placed.

My suggestions are to only look at 225 HP 1.8T Quattro models, or 250 HP 3.2 Quattro models. The 180's just aren't worth it IMO. Even though the platform is shared with the Golf/Jetta/Beetle, they are quite different in implementation. For example the 225 Quattro has a multilink independant rear suspension (same as the R32).

I like TT's and all, but to buy one brand new?! they are way overpriced IMO

Used tho, seems like there are some good deals to be had

james all luxury cars are a waste to buy brand new (lease seems better)... well here anyways.. my S4 the price i got it for and the condition compared to if i shelled out new.. i basically paid 60% of the sticker i bet..

                  Re: Tt

well, ya, I mean compared to other cars in that price range (if i remember correctly, a 3.2 TT can run close to 70k)

I mean if you buy a brand new TT compared to a 2005 or 2006 used one they seem to depreciate really quickly (20k loss on some a year old)

                    Re: Tt

Definitely don't buy a Mk1 TT brand new anymore... that's just dumb. If you want brand new, wait for the Mk2.

Here are a few of the forums I visit regularily about the Mk1 TT:

                      Re: Tt

Personally i didnt like the TT the interior was fugly in my opinion (it was purple could be a big part of me not liking) If you like to see out of your car dont get one the most hair raising experince in a TT is driving in a parking lot because you cant see anything. Handling wise it was great drove well wasnt a big fan of the shifter (push down reverse and all) but i am not a big short shifter fan.

                        Re: Tt

Well it's for me Dad and he is not in it for the speed or turning, I want him to have a nice car with no roof and AWD so the options are few. We were thinking an 01-02 range, they are plenty cheap to the south.
