Coilovers are usually the best choice, they give you height adjustability and/or dampening adjustability. Those will run you anywhere from 700-1600.

You can get a cup kit which will lower you a certain amount, those run from 400-700 I believe.

Other than those, you can cheap out and get lowering springs which will ruin your struts eventually and give you a shitty ride.

Last ditch effort = Cutting springs.

obviously i only want the best for my car, but i think the cup kit would be all i can afford. there not too terribly bad are they? i only want a 2 inch drop or so.

I'd check with Simon at EU Tuning (see his forum on this site)

Cup kit would be perfect if you're not looking to go super low.

sorry man, don't mean to be rude but don't even think about doing this.... you will get a terrible ride quality and if you cut them short enough you run the risk of the springs falling out of their seats when the suspension extends over bumps

do coilovers so you can get exact height and stance u want! for a mk2 they cant be that expensive, try raceland coilovers

If this car is a beater, dont bother lowering it and just keep it as a winter ride when you get the car you want. that way you wont be wasting your money on a beater

                            seconded.

i never understood the need to spend money on a beater car. hold off, and save it to get even an early 2000's car!
