    Re: New Rabbits

thanks for the PM, and Im well aware of what OBO means

the car you linked had 42,000km on it and you have 60-something... not to mention his obo is 2k less than yours...low KMs mean more to people than model year when its the same body style (in my experience anyways)

Im not trying to screw you out of a private sale... im trying to help you sell your car because it'd take a real sucker to buy a 2.0 for 19k when you can buy a rabbit with all the same options and more, a more powerful engine AND 0 km's for less than 5 k more.

good luck with the sale...maybe try not to take everything to heart as well because my intention wasnt to insult you.

Thanks tips, my car doesnt have ESP (wasnt an option in 02 diesels), Im aware that driving without it is possible and safe...I also said (IMO) after that post..In My Opnion..

I agree that winter tires/training are just as important, but ESP makes a HUGE difference (try searching google videos for traction control vs no traction control)..'a must' maybe not, but it certianly didnt warrant a sassy response from you

            Re: New Rabbits

Is that with taxes as the base price is like 19,990 for 3 door and 20,990 for 5 door so that is a lot of options.....

                Re: New Rabbits

I highly recommend ESP. I personally don't think it should even be an option, it should be standard. It is an astonishing safety system, regardless of whether you're a winter driver, summer driver, whatever you are.

The only fault with VW/Audi's implementation of it is that you can't fully disable it, and it's a little "rough" compared to the more subtle systems (like in a Porsche for example).

And I don't care what anybody says, there is absolutely no way that any human could do what the ESP system does (perfectly, everytime, etc.), any more than you could do what a seatbelt or airbag does. I know there are those who will say that they could, but tell me how you plan to perfectly brake only one wheel in a 10th of a second to balance out the car?

                Just my obligitory $0.02.

In the commercials they show a rabbit similar to the "harlequin" golf they had in the mk3 years, just a monochromatic scheme of white/black/grey......is that a production model, or just something VW threw into the commercial to get people like me wondering?

                        Re: New Rabbits

They are apparently doing the harl, but only those shades of grey/black.

For 500 bucks, ESP is something you can't exactly add later. If it was 5000 sure I'd say no, but some of us spend more on a single wheel+tire. I have ASR and would upgrade to ESP if I could.

BTW I built a rabbit for 22K including freight, with conv/steel/manual. So not sure where you got your 28K.

The Building at VW.Ca doesn't include the $880.00 PDSI and Taxes like Tire tax etc... I was told.

                            Re: New Rabbits

ya, i built one for 22,290 as well, and that includes 695 for destination fees, the pdi and misc fees are supposed to total 1650 (or so I was told, that may vary but seems pretty close) so if you're paying more than 24 sounds like a rip off

Sorry for getting you upset. It was all meant in good humour. You did say "a must".

And sorry for the off topic. We can always debate the pros/cons off these things somewhere else.

To keep it somewhat on topic. Do people feel that this multiple branding of the same car under various names is confusing to the public?

Also what is the scoop with TDIs. Why no MK5 TDIs??
