i know this has been covered lots so i just had a simple question and not trying to stir this topic up again. I drive a gti 1.8t, and if it says the requirements are 91 octane, would using 93 or 94+ be worse better or no differnce for the car?

    Re: Octane

Possibly better, but most likely no difference. The car can adapt to a point, but it won't keep increasing timing/boost - same reason race gas is no use unless you have the maps.

But we are at altitude so technically using 89 here is like using 91 at sea level. Unless you have a chip/program set to use higher, I would just use the 91, or even 89 if you are cheap and not leaving the city.

      Re: Octane

Might just be psychological, but I always find my car (pre-chip) runs smoother on the higher octane gas (Husky Super Premium).

Didn't know about the altitude / lower octane thing....good info.
