Well guys im thinking about doing a BMW forum for Alberta. What do you guys think? I know there is some BMW guys on here. Back in BC we used to use the BC BMW clubs forum. The southern alberta BMW club doesent have a forum (which i find sucks) I dont want to take away from this forum though and thats why I ask what others think.

Re: Do we need a BMW Forum?
I think it's been tried, and failed.

Beyond's BMW forum is steady, they have meets and stuff. So for BMW specific discussion I would say use Beyond. It's established now and people visit it so you'll definately get help if you need it.
Word to Volinder's suggestion. I wasn't a fan of changing the NewVeeDub name in the first place....but now the name has changed to Eurodrivers yet right smack dab at the top of every page it says "VW and Audi Community".
Purpose of changing the name was to take the whole isht in a different direction....something that catered to more euros. With that little subtitle up there you've basically just killed that idea and just ended up with the same ol NewVeeDub...but with a different name.
Need to get others involved here, get that VW/Audi community out of the banner, promote it a bit, and make this isht work otherwise we may as well go back to being NVD.
Blah. Back to studying. On my birday....double

Agreed!! ...or just change this subtitle of this website to include us as well! (I think that would be a better option as this forum is relatively slow as is.)

As a club we are more than happy to have the BMW guys here and you're more than welcome to make yourself at home. Hopefully word will get out and we'll see more of you. Honestly i'd like to see more Volvo guys here too but that's a very small community so i'm not getting my hopes up.
I realize there are still mostly VW's here and that's fine, in fact that's awesome (and I don't see myself leaving them in the near future), but let's try and work on that.
If you have suggestions please feel free to make it known (either here or PM one of us, whatever). I think what would really help for exposure is if we can get some of you guys out to the shows and put your cars in with us (for example the DTP show where it was all VW's) that would help a lot I think.
Anyway, sorry for novel but those are my thoughts.
And Vol, thanks and we're all glad you're still here, it's crazy to think you were one of the first (before my time), it's good to see you stuck with us through your transition!!
As for taking it out of the banner I think we can work on that and will talk to El Presidente when he gets back from his honeymoon.Last edited by Tuna; 06-11-2006, 07:38 PM.Jay

Seriously though, we did that because that was what the club wanted at the time, a lot of people didn't want to just go to an all out "Euro" club right away. Personally I think the transition has been good and I think maybe it's time we think about continuing in that direction (removing the banner would be a big step in that direction).
Like I said before, I think it would be great to increase the Bimmer traffic around here, especially for you locals. Hell, maybe we can get some Saab guys on here too (and i'm still working on some of the swedespeed guys).
And I don't think you're flaming at all, it's good discussion, and good feedback.Jay

Re: Do we need a BMW Forum?
Yeah lets do it.. I suggest though that we keep things condensed where traffic is expected to be slow i.e. Wolfsburg on its own or split V and A from the G? All Swedes together? Stuttgart and Bavaria together? Italians.. we wish! Brits.. maybe.
