  • Hi Octane

Can anyone tell me where you can get 93 (or higher) octane gas? ...Besides the race track.

The gas pump on street.. NO.. You can buy VP race fuel that the octane level of your choice.

An example of VP race fuel that cost around $600 CDN with 98~100Octane on a 20Gal drump.

why plan on getting a 93 chip setup? I think its kinda lame how we only get 91.. although california does too so oh well.. you could try those stupid boosters from crappy tire if you wanted to run like a 1/4 mile on 100octane with a custom chip setup some night.. maybe race city sells high stuff too i dunno

You can't really get higher than 91 in Alberta. This is why our province sucks. Even Esso has stopped carrying 92 octane here now :( Technically Husky and Mohawk still carry 92, however I have issues with the additives used by Mohawk...

From what I have been told about fuel, the "do it yourself" octane boost additives from Crappy Tire aren't very good. So I would not rely on anything like that for a long period of time. If you DO want to mix up your own gas, you will need to buy race fuel (as suggested) at an incredibly high cost.

So as Ryan pointed out, if you are looking at chipping, get a 91 octane tuned chip. Running a 93 chip on 91 gas won't get you better performance.

Thanks guys, you guys hit the nail on the head. I was looking at what options are out there for chipping and the diff programs available given the fuel.

Hopefully we can get the 94 octane from Husky sometime!

lol..."regular premium". Yeah, what do they call 93 in other provinces/states? Maybe, "mid-grade premium"

Mohawk/Husky may be bringing 94 octane to Calgary, they are testing it in Grande Prairie. Check the beyond.ca thread, will post a link later when I have time to find it.
