Anyone know why the 2000-2002 S4 is on TC's do not import list?

I have noticed that it was a non-importable car, which considering we have them here they must have a bumper or emissions difference, but from looks they don't seem to be different. It could also maybe be that they had wagons in the US and we did not and maybe they are more what they are not allowing???Blair

The TC list is pretty explicit when it comes to sedans and wagons.
I saw a red S4 for sale in the trader recently.. to my knowledge, S4's were never available in red in canada.Tim

ok.. here it is. replied to your Beyond thread as well.
US S4's came with foglighhts that would not meet the 5kph crash test.. besides that the only other difference is the HID's.. Thats it!
The Avants were not tested at all.. so they are not allowed.
A4/S4's were available in Canada in Laser Red.. my first A4 was that color. Its just quite rare..
And I highly doubt S4's are illegal in Vancouver.. someone is pulling your chain. I have personally seen them there.. on the street and at the dealer.Comment

so i could just replace the front bumper/fog lights with canadian spec ones and get the dealer to sign off on it and it should be good to bring in?Tim

yea only difference is the front fogs and hids.. because of our retarded bumper standards it was too expensive to replace the fogs/hids in a crash so we got dupped.. i've added a 4300k hid kit to mine which works awesome since the projectors are the same as the us spec ones and no front fogs because i dont' really want to do all that wiring and button adding but i may eventuallyComment

It doesnt matter what you do to the car.. I thnk you are out of luck. If it is outlawed.. it is outlawed.
Ryan: You might want to check and see if you have the wiring.. some Cdn S4's have the actual wiring present.. so its as easy as hooking up a button and connecting the wiring. There is a local guy on AW that was accumulating all the parts to do his, but I think is selling instead. I gave him the us grills, and he pieced everyting else together himself.Comment

ahhh really! i should check when i get around to installing my boost gauge.. i think i'm skipping the vent and buying a b5 passat 42draft pillar pod and then redoing it in black to match.. i liked my old pod one.. but yea if the wiring is already there that would be niiice..Comment
