Engine wise being equal...
GTi less weight so better acceleration
Jetta less drag, higher top speed (without limiter) -

My gf is thinking of the 03 jetta and i cant let her have a faster car. i have the gti. so i think ill be ok. i could out drive her anyday so am i safe? lolsigpicComment

When did they increase the bhp on the 1.8T from 150 to 180 hp? I thought that it was in 2003... Hence, wouldn't the 2003 be faster?
