Correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the sense that you guys are saying that I shouldn't spend too much time worrying about probs with the dealer.

well.. i'll put it this way.. if you lower your car so its scraping and bust the oil pan.. then they won't do it and I would see why but say your sunroof gets gremlins and stops working and they say.. uhh your exhaust there voids the warranty.. then you slap them with a fresh salmon.. i'm sure a little common sense on both ends is all that is needed.

Haha even after my other thread?
I talked to IMPEX and they told me that its impossible to get the Bosch HS ecu new any more, because Volkswagen has listed the LP as a direct replacement for even the 2002 model year. So if any dealership wanted to replace our HS ecus they would be using the LP. This also is in accord with what I have been told in numerous PMs on the Vortex. People have had their HS ecu's replaced with LP ecu's at many dealerships.
So I am gonna try to insert the LP into my Jetta sometime soon. It may not work because it may require special programming using the dealership tools which we do not have access to. If I fail, I will have an LP ecu for sale, works in any 2003 1.8T AWP 5 speed.
Long story short, if you have a "HS" ecu and want to get an extra, you should be checking junkyards, its gonna take a while to find one!KR
