Re: Sterter noise on MK4?
It works!!! I had a noisey starter laying around in my garage and I decided to try it. After the procedure I bench tested the starter. No more noise!!! I think I might start doing this at work to save customers some cake.Like Type 2's? Visit my blog!

Re: Sterter noise on MK4?
My rabbit starter gave me issues the other day. Only happened once the whole time i've had the car. My temp solution was to put a hammer in the hatch . I'll have to get a new one in the next few days. Not as technical as this but so far it's been ok.Last edited by Tuna; 04-28-2006, 09:22 AM.Jay

Re: Sterter noise on MK4?
That would be a good idea Dave! Really though how long do you think this will fix the problem? Are you aloud to ask the customer that you can save them a new starter (which is $400+) but it my possibly not go away for ever?Name: Brent

Re: Sterter noise on MK4?
There were a few guys on Ottawa-vdubbing.com who did this (they wrote up a how-to a few years ago, actually.)
From their experience, the grinding comes back within a few months.Tim

Re: Sterter noise on MK4?
Could try synthetic grease rather than regular. I will have to see if I can do one here at work and see how long it lasts.Like Type 2's? Visit my blog!
