So with gases prices going up i need to know some information. I drive a 2002 1.8t gti, how important is it that i use premium fuel? Goods and bads?

Check the fuel thread, lots of info and debate in there.

I think the price will probably stay pretty high as we are approaching the summer driving season too along with political instability in certain producing countries.

yea if that happens i'm selling my car i have to fill this thing up weekly!! and at 50-60/tank thats wayyy too much

Well prices are still very cheap here compared to most other places in the world, so perhaps this will start us on the path to some reduction of consumption.

That being said these prices also keep our economy on its blistering pace which should help lots of us out too

I would concur. I'm forecasting prices in the high teens for Regular Gas... perhaps venturing into the low $1.20's. With that said... she's gonna be a summer of $60 fill-ups on the ole GTi. Maybe this is a good year to leave the spare tire in the garage, pump up a few more psi's in the tires... and keep the "better half" at home... you know... because I like to keep it streamlined.

premium was 118.9 on the way to BC last weekend so 1.20 does not seem that far off.

Well oil hit $75 US a barrell on friday which is huge. Good news is our province's budget is based on prices of $55 so can you say surplus!!

Oh and just in case anyone cares, still costing me about $17 to fill my car, for about 450-500kms

Cost me $58 to fill up yesterday. As a reference point when I bought the car it was $30 from dead empty

My chart shows 6-8 cents/km back in 02, now it's 9-11 cents per km. Creeping up every day - something has to give.

Im pretty sure anyone who drives a smart car now is laughin at those idiots who drive big v8 american cars.
